PHOTO & BODY
IBIZA - 25 Sep to 1 Oct 2016
A workshop for photographers, models and performers.
Learn to work on both sides of the camera, to produce Photographic Art underwater and in natural environments.
We propose a unique workshop in which photography and body art performance go hand in hand in the creation of a unique and original synergetic experience. The focus is on perceptions, discovering new ways to live and feel photography, taking into account the connection and interaction with the Earth and Water elements.
A variety of body arts and disciplines connected with these elements will be explored to deepen the understanding of body and self. Participants will explore all the aspects and the roles involved in the creative process: photographers become performers and vice versa, overcoming the barrier between subject and object.
The categories of photographic work covered are: portraiture, nude photography, underwater photography, photo in movement, with focus on the perception, light composition and the human connection.
You will practice:
working with models, expression and pose, human and psychological approach, legal aspects.
working with natural light in different times of the day, environments and meteorological conditions.
underwater shooting techniques
This will be complemented by various disciplines with our professional teachers in different earth and water body expressions:
water dance (Watsu, dolphin dance, weightlessness)
apnea (free diving, breathing and relaxation techniques, apnea yoga, movement and balance, safety)
Dance and movement practice (dance improvisation, release techniques, authentic movement, working with images)
The photographic work will be done in natural environments of Earth and Water, with trained models and performers. Every day we will be visiting some of the best beaches (sand, rocks, cliffs, clay, turquoise waters) and few excursions in “secret spots” of the island.
There will be a first session in which Marco Ferraris will show his photographic work and video art, followed by sessions for reviewing and editing the material of each participant and the creation of a final projection with all the selected works.

Dance & Movement Practice is an opportunity to let your body speak.
This is a great chance to get back into your body, to feel it, to release extra tension, to be able to hear it in a new way.
We will be coming back into our body by using a variety of tools, ideas and methods of Dance & Movement Practice:
working with images
Connecting our breath and movement, following the flow, allowing our body to be fluid and responsive will allow us to travel into depths of ourselves. Letting go of the old, learning something new, staying in the moment here and now.
Dance & Movement Practice
Born in Belgium in an industrial region, soon after finishing university Gil decided to move out and live by the Mediterranean Sea. Particularly interested in the wonders of the blue, he started to discover an entire new world of perceptions under the water. Experimenting peaceful silence and weightlessness while diving into in the crystal clear waters of the island of Ibiza has leaded him to the art of Free-diving,
Gil has been trained by the Chief of Education of AIDA (www.aida.org) to become an international Free-diving instructor. Working as a tourist guide for the last ten years, he is now sharing his passion and love for the island and its underwater wonders.
Free-diving involves apnea, the art of holding our breath to connect with our inner selves. It takes the body and the mind into unexpected ways of breathing the wind of life.
During the workshop, we will work on both the physiological and mental aspects of breath holding, taking you step by step deeper and deeper into the art of perception, promoting the entire awareness of you senses.
Tho objective of the workshop is to discover an entire new world into yourself.
Introduction to Free-diving: Apnea and Breathing
After her studies of Psychology, in 2013 Agua Hara came into her life. The deep connection Susana felt with this technique since receiving her first session motivated her to learn it.
The same year she began her training in this water technique, and since then she has been traveling and going deeper into the world of aquatic body work, attending different courses, festivals and offering sessions in many countries (Mexico, Thailand, Bali, etc...).
In 2015 she obtained the certification for levels 1 and 2 as Agua Hara instructor.
In this journey Susana also started to explore the art of aquatic dance, which also became her passion.
She is enthusiastic about learning different from of dance and bringing them into the water. For her, this is not just another way of dancing, it is a never ending learning process about oneself: when you dance you are connecting with your true essence.
Dancing in the water is a journey into another dimension. The weightlessness, the waves of the sea, and the soft support change our own breath and our movements, as we reach a meditative state.
It is an improvised dance born from the connection with the water and its rhythm, where you surrender into its softness and its subtlety, where you learn to be guided by the water and to let go into the unknown.
In that state of presence, we will joyfully explore the solo, partner and group dances using techniques based on Contact Improvisation, Aguahara and Dolphin Dance.
The aquatic dance provides a unique space of body research, as it takes place in a multidimensional environment, where the possibilities of movement are endless and the freedom is total.
Either as dancers , photographers , performers or people who are simply attracted to the aquatic environment , this workshop will help us to connect with the water in a different way , opening our creativity into new scenes, dances, forms of expression and movement.
Water Dance and Movement
For me being alive is already the most fascinating art and creativity existing. I love to dedicate my heart and being into living my truth, being just simply myself! And share the magic of life, the mystery hides in everything and all of us....from that space I find my creativity, dance, music, improvisation! Because it is a straight transmission from whatever is inside of me manifesting itself through this.
